Let us be in the middle of two sides

Astrology is related with Karma (literal meaning “Work”) theory. It is said that, if we do good Karma in our life, we shall get good results. If we have done good Karma in our previous births, we shall get good planetary placements/influences in this life. We have to understand this [good Karma] in proper perspective.

Bhagavad Gita : Ch 1, Sloka 21 says

“Senouru-bhar-madhyae  Rathaan  Sthaphyah  Meha  Acyutah ..   [Sanskrit]

Arjuna said:” O infallible one (Acyutah), please draw my chariot between the two armies…”

One of the main teaching of Gita is in this line…

..let us be in the middle, where we can see the world in impartial way…

We are always torn between good or bad, win or defeat, honor or dishonor and the like and try always to do those things which are good, we always try to win a situation/war, and we always try to get the honor and so on. But, when we do such things we do these works with attachment and don’t get the desired results.

Ultimate objective of human life is salvation, which may take many births to attain. And for attaining salvation, one way is  to be a ‘”Karma-Yogi” meaning “Person who does work with non-attachment”. This appears to be a difficult concept, but in simple language it means we have to take a middle path in life. Without judging whether one work is good or bad, we should do our duty sincerely without any attachment. We should get joy in doing the work without thinking about the results which may be favorable or not-favorable.

“O infallible one (Acyutah), please draw my chariot between the two armies…”

…..let us be in the middle of two sides.

  1. I have a question, what happens when the middle path is not so apparent?

  2. Today is " Phalharini Puja" in India, particularly in West Bengal being new moon day of second month of the year. "Phal" means 'Result' or ' Fruits'. This time Fruits are being offered to Maa- Kali in the Puja/Prayer.Meaning of this Puja is that we offer our " Karma-Phal" or " Results of our Work" to Goddess Kali, so that she takes results of all work of us, whether good or bad and give us "Moksha" or " Salvation". Till we are attached to our work, the " Karma- Phal" will not allow us to get salvation.

You question is very relevant, as placing oneself in "middle" or taking middle path is one of the greatest challenge in life as really "middle path is not so apparent" in most of the cases.

One should be aware of this path and he/she will probably get help from God Almighty to choose the middle path.
